Vit & Tattoos

I came across this graphic in the Vitiligo Pride group on Facebook. I just love it! I have vit & I have tattoos.
In fact, on my tribal bear tattoo, it has developed a bit of vit itself. Which I love & think it represents me even more. I'm including a pic of the bear vit as well. Just thought the cartoon graphic was really cool. Our spots are unique, as well as our tattoos ( for those who have them ). Both tell stories :)

Vit On My Eyes

A friend and I were at the beach today. It was a cooler overcast day at the beach.
Beautiful weather! We took a picture on the pier. Looking at the picture later, it was
evident that I have developed Vit around my eyes. I had thought maybe so before but
was never sure..the photo today defintely showed it. Thought I would share it.
As I've said before I am comfortable with my spots.

However, I do believe the Vit has also caused my partial deafness - due to doctors
having no reason why I am - and having read that there is a possible link between
Vit & hearing loss.. Sure makes sense to me.
Also, my teeth are horrid. I think that's also to my vit. I can't prove it but
it sure seems to be possible. I've taken care of my teeth and yet
they are horrible.
So does anyone else out there have hearing or teeth problems along with their vit??

History Of Vitliligo

An interesting article about the history of vit. I had been curious myself about how cultures and religions had seen vit over time. Defintely worth the read. You can find the article at the below link.

Vit E-card

I came across this & wanted to share. It's aimed at all the companies
trying to get those of us with vit to try a new "cure" when in reality there is no cure.

Hair Color With Vit

As many of those with Vit know, it can affect our hair color. Often changing our hair color to grey/white. Since our hair contains the same cell as our skin, the hair therefore loses its color. I have for a long time, dyed my hair. I wanted to hide the grey hairs keep a more "natural" hair color for my age.I am in my 30s & most women my age still have the normal hair colors.

I am overdue on coloring my hair. I have it just have not gotten around to it yet.
Looking in the mirror the other day, I realized how much my hair is losing its color.
Not just the hair dye color, but its color. There is a lot more grey/white to it. Of course most would say well dye it. That's what my mom said. But part of me isn't so sure. The society normal is to dye it. No woman should have grey/white hair when young its not attractive. If men go grey, they look distinguished but if its women we simply look old. But to me, if i dye it I'll just dye it forever. Esp since the Vit has sped up the process considerably.

So I guess I'm on the fence.Do I keep dyeing my hair every few weeks or do I let it go?
I suppose its the endless circle for us with Vit. How much of our appearance do we hide & alter and how much do we accept & embrace of the Vit?

Featuring Another Blogger

I wanted to share a fellow blogger. I love her post about are Spotted humans the exception. Her blog is called makeup4vitiligo. & you can visit it here It really is an interesting post.
Like her with the panda, I identify with Giraffes. Such magnificent beautiful
gentle spotted creatures giraffes are.Of course the bigger issue is that we
need to stop seeing ourselves as a problem & embracing our spots. Maybe then society will start to do the same.
